How to make the best use of the COVID-19 lockdown

So far with the advent of the COVID-19 virus, casualties of the pandemic have increased extensively and we know that the reports we are getting about those affected and the death toll are a lot lesser than what the numbers could actually be. In the face of all this, we all have been advised to stay at home to reduce and hopefully stop the spread of the virus. However, the lockdown has a lot of downside to it as it has affected the global economy drastically and placed everyone in a state of fear and uncertainty.

Without any intention of downplaying the effect of this terrible threat to humanity and with a heavy heart toward those that have died as a result of the virus and hope for a recovery towards those that have been affected, there is actually a bright side to this whole trend. If you think about it, nothing like this whole global turmoil has ever occurred where everyone had to be indoor. But then, if this didn’t happen, what else could have made virtually everyone stay at home compulsorily?

I believe this lockdown is an opportunity we should take advantage of. This could just be a chance for you to do those things you mostly ignored or barely had time for. Now you can actually have some time for yourself. You can now think and have a retrospect of the kind of life you’ve been living. This could just be that moment where you get to search yourself and figure out what you really want out of life. Most importantly, this may just be the time for you to get yourself in touch with the divine and get on the right spot with God. Maybe as a result of all the rush, the hustle, and bustle of life, you’ve barely had time for God, and for that reason; you’ve lost connection with Him. This is where you get to make up for those lost times. You’ve got the chance now to build your relationship with God.

This could also be an opportunity for you to connect more with your family members, your loved ones, your friends, and those living in the same house with you. Learn more about each other; enjoy the beauty of that relationship. Honestly, this whole virus trend has given us time to communicate more and get in touch with those we haven’t heard from in years.

What about that thing you enjoy doing, that thing you are passionate about? Is it writing, designing, singing, playing an instrument? Now is the time to exercise that talent and become better at it. What about that stuff you always wanted to learn? The internet is available for that. What about that skill you wanted to perfect? Now is the time to do as much exploring as you can. What about that exercise you’ve been postponing because you barely had the time for it? You could do some pushups and sit-ups in your room or jug around your compound. I’ve been on that for a week now! Yup daily push-ups! How about that book you’ve promised yourself time and time again that you’ll read? Now is the best time for that. Take this time to build yourself, take advantage of this privilege before the rush comes back.

No offense to those that have been affected, but I sort of feel like we needed this. We needed a break from all the noise, the stress, and the materialistic chase.

At the same time, I pray that this does not prolong much longer because we need to go back to our businesses so we can stay alive.

Stay safe everyone!

With Love,
